If you are allergic to liraglutide or have any of the following conditions, you should not use Saxenda:
Multiple endocrine neoplasia types 2 (gland tumor)
personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (a type of thyroid cancer); or a personal or family history of thyroid cancer.
Ketoacidosis in people with diabetes (call your doctor for treatment).
If you are taking other medicines for diabetes, such as insulin or liraglutide, you should not take Saxenda (albiglutide, dulaglutide, exenatide, Byetta, Bydureon, Tanzeum, Trulicity).
Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions to make sure Saxenda is safe for you:
digestion slows down due to digestive problems;
kidney or liver disease
blood triglycerides (fat form);
history of problems with the pancreas or gallbladder; or
history of suicidal ideation or depression
Liraglutide-induced thyroid tumors or animal cancers in studies. It's not clear that similar side effects can occur in people taking regular doses of the_ drug. Consult your doctor to learn more about your risks.
It is not known_ whether Saxenda will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
It is not clear__ whether liraglutide passes into breast milk or could harm a breastfed baby. If you are breastfeeding, tell your doctor.
Saxenda is not FDA approved for use by anyone under_ the age of 18.

Saxenda is usually- given once a day. Follow the instructions in the prescription letter. Your doctor may adjust your dose from time to time. Use this medicine only as directed. Do not use it in larger or smaller quantities or more than recommended.
Saxenda and Victoza should not be -put together. The active ingredients of these two brands are the same but should not be -used together.
Read all patient information, prescriptions, and instruction sheets provided. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Saxenda is given as a subcutaneous injection at any time of the day, with or without food. You will learn to inject yourself at home.
Your doctor will show you how to inject Saxenda into the areas of your body that are most affected. Use a different location each time you inject. Do not repeat the injection in the same place.
Do not use Saxenda if it has changed color or contains particles. Call your pharmacist for new medications.
Increased thirst or urination, blurred vision, headaches, and fatigue are indicators of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
Stress, illness, surgery, exercise, alcohol, and skipping meals can affect blood sugar levels. Consult your doctor before changing your dose or schedule.
Use only disposable needles. Follow the appropriate state or city regulations regarding the disposal of used needles and syringes. Use a puncture-resistant “sharps” disposal container (ask your pharmacist where to get it and how to dispose of it). Children and dogs should not have access to this container.
Diet, exercise, weight control, regular monitoring of blood sugar, and specialized medical care can all be part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes Saxenda. Pay special attention to your doctor's recommendations.
